I hope you all had a great Valentine's Day! I know I sure did. When I got home from work and picking up Aubrey, Eric was waiting on me in a suit and tie with flowers and chocolates for me and the little one. (I love that he started the tradition of giving her flowers too.) He took care of Aubrey and asked me to go upstairs and change into something pretty for our at-home date. He made me a fabulous dinner by candlelight and agreed to watch a "chick flick" of my choosing on Netflix.
It's crazy to think that we found out we were expecting on Valentine's Day last year. What a difference a year can make!
Aubrey and I did a little photo shoot and gave Daddy a picture for his desk at work to remember us by.
Returning to work has been a pretty smooth transition since I planned for my first few weeks back before I left. The kids all seem to have missed me. Knowing that I have a job that makes a difference, that I love, and that I am good at has made going back more enjoyable. Not to mention, Aubrey has the best care taker ever...NANA.
In other news, Aubrey has been a little fussy lately. I've tried increasing her feedings and that doesn't seem to help. Her doctor doesn't want her on cereal until she is 4 months, so that really isn't an option. I don't see anything breaking through, but I think she may also be teething. It's going to be a long few weeks until she is 4 months. :-/

Bittersweet
My little pumpkin is 3 months old. I can hardly believe it.
She's growing so quickly. Aubrey:
Although I love to watch my little one grow, the 3 month mark is bittersweet. I go back to work this week on Friday. I am so torn inside. I know that we really need the financial stability that my second income will provide, but I hate the thought of missing out on any of her little daily accomplishments. Luckily, she will be in the amazing care of my grandmother, so I know she will be in good hands. I'm sure that there will be lots of tears on Friday morning.
On a more positive note, I'm excited that Valentine's Day is right around the corner. I'm planning a little homemade surprise for Eric. I'll share it with you all soon. Until then, keep me in your prayers this week.
This skirt is so tasty! |
Gotta love those BabyLegs leg warmers. |
Look what I can do! |
She's growing so quickly. Aubrey:
- Weighs 12 lb. 3 oz. and is 24 in. long.
- Loves to play with her hands and discover new things that they can do.
- Her favorite toy is her elephant rattle with crinkly ears.
- Laughs when Mommy and Daddy blow on her tummy.
- Is very vocal. She oohs and ahhs constantly.
- Can sit up with back support. She can use her walker now.

Aubrey's First Holidays
It's time to catch you all up on what I've been up to for the past few months. Hospital pictures have really come a long way. Here are Aubrey's:
October babies get to experience lots of great holidays shortly after arriving. Aubrey's first major holiday (aside from Halloween) was Thanksgiving. In keeping with family tradition, we held our celebration at my Aunt Peggy's house. Since this was our first celebration since my aunt passed away, it was nice to have 2 new lives to celebrate (my cousin Levi had a little boy on the same day that Aubrey was born).
Shortly after Thanksgiving, Aubrey was one month old.
Then, she had her first photo shoot with Mommy and Aunt Joy.
Christmas was the next major holiday she celebrated. She experienced her first trip to Nana's house and got to meet her cousin Dylan who surprised everyone by coming home from his naval base. She also visited Santa Clause. We know he was the real deal, because he knew exactly where her dress was from. For Christmas, Aubrey received lots of great gifts including clothes, a playmat, and a pink Mustang walker.
Then it was time to celebrate a new year and Aubrey turning 2 months old.
I made her tutu by knotting strips of tulle around a ribbon sash. It was so easy! I'll never buy one. Her monthly decals are from an Etsy shop called Month2MonthBaby. Being a mommy is so wonderful. The past two months have been the best of my life. I can't wait to see what else is in store in the years to come!
